About Me

Credentials and Career Journey

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the States of Texas and New Mexico I am fully trained in the practice of EMDR and Neurofeedback through extensive coursework.  My Masters Degree was completed through Capella University in 2011 and I began a private practice in Georgetown, Texas that same year. In late 2014, when my husband’s employment took him to Clovis, NM, I moved my private practice to this new location. In February 2020, my husband transferred to Lufkin, TX for his work and I transitioned to our new location in August 2020 where I presently work with clients in talk therapy, EMDR, and Neurofeedback therapy.

My Therapy Style

Clients often describe me as warm, compassionate, and genuine. My passion for helping others is evident in the work I do. I listen carefully, offer honest and thoughtful feedback, and create a supportive space where you can explore challenges without judgment.

I believe there is no single path to a meaningful and fulfilling life. Each person must discover what aligns with their own values, strengths, and goals. My role is to help you find your authentic voice, gain greater self-awareness, make changes where needed, and move forward with confidence toward the life you want to create.

My Life Before Becoming a Therapist

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for a large corporation for 10 years as a Human Resource Manager. I was married for 17 years and raised two children. I went through a divorce at the age of 40 and married again 18 years ago. I have experienced both a challenging marriage and a very satisfying marriage.  My first marriage did not fail for lack of trying on both our parts. During this marriage, I participated in a great deal of marriage therapy. I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the counseling room and have a huge appreciation for the amount of courage it takes to go through the counseling process, both as an individual and as a couple.

I grew up in a family of eight children where life was mostly challenging.  I have experienced life at its best and its worst. I am acquainted with the sorrow of death of very close loved ones, divorce, heartache, parenting challenges, step-parenting difficulties, tough teens, unwanted moves to locations that were less than desirable, serious financial struggles, extended family conflict, low self-worth, challenges with in-laws, living with elderly parents, caring for parents with dementia, struggles with a healthy body image, and the list could go on and on. I share this so that you have a true understanding of where I have come from in life.

My formal education is very important in my ability to help others. But my life experiences are what help me have true empathy and understanding for where my clients are in this often challenging journey we call life. I draw on these rich personal experiences in working with my clients and believe these are the things that make me real and capable of meeting each client where they are when they begin this journey of change

When I'm Not Working...

You will find me enjoying the hammock on my patio, listening to the birds on the front porch, working on a craft project, spending time with my grandchildren, planting flowers in my garden, relaxing on the beach, or dancing with my husband.
